Donald R. Keller, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024. Don was born March 20, 1934, on a farm west of Harvard, Nebraska, the eldest son of Ralph and Maxine Keller of Harvard, Nebraska. He attended Harvard High School, graduating in the spring of 1952. Don enrolled at Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln Nebraska, where he majored in Teaching and Educational Development. In 1954, Don married his hometown sweetheart Wanda Johnson, and the couple remained inseparable throughout their 70 years of marriage.
After a tour of duty in the Army, Don returned to Wesleyan where he attained his Master's Degree in Public Education and Administration. While at Wesleyan, Don was captain of the Wesleyan football team, and in 1987 was inducted into the Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame. Upon graduating, he spent more than a decade teaching and coaching throughout the state of Nebraska before returning to Harvard to serve as Principal of Harvard Public Schools and taking over the family farm. Don and Wanda were faithful and active members in the Harvard Methodist Church and Don's unwavering love of the Lord served to guide him throughout his life.
Don was blessed with a large and loving family, and is survived by his wife Wanda, brothers Jerry (Gayle) Keller and Richard Keller, sister-in-law Sherol Stone, children Michael (Susan) Keller, Terri (John) Leehy, Scott (Tina) Keller, and Tami (Mitch) Hansen, 15 adoring grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a countless number of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
A Memorial Service honoring Don will be held at a future date in his hometown of Harvard, Nebraska. The family is grateful for the prayers and condolences offered by so many.
