Donald Edward Hardy, affectionately known as DonBob, was born on April 23, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky. He took his final bow on September 26, 2024, at Baptist Health Louisville, leaving behind a legacy marked by craftsmanship, humor, and love.
Donald was not only a dedicated craftsman but also a passionate sportsman. A member of the wrestling team at PRP high school, he developed not just an athletic prowess but a love for the camaraderie and discipline that sport brought into his life. His passion for competition extended beyond wrestling; he was an enthusiastic drag racer who reveled in the thrill of fast muscle cars. In his leisure time, Donald enjoyed the intricate art of working on Model Cars, a hobby that showcased his creativity and love for mechanics.
Those who knew Donald best remember him as a big joker, a man who thrived on inside jokes and had an uncanny ability to bring laughter to any gathering.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Blessing-Hardy; his son, Thomas Hardy; and his daughter, Chelsy Forrester, married to Nick. He also leaves behind grandsons, Aden Hall and Brycen Forrester, who will carry forward his legacy of laughter and love. His sisters, Linda Warfield (Laura Fugate), Brenda Morrison (married to Randy), Mary Erwin, and Myra Kolle-Beard (married to Troy Beard), along with many beloved nieces and nephews, continue to honor his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Thomas Hardy; his mother, Mary Harrell; and his sister, Judy Warfield-Spencer. Their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
Donald Edward Hardy's life was a testament to the value of humor, hard work, and family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
