Donald A. Goecke, 80, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022. He was born on July 11, 1942, in Miami, Florida, to the late Melvin and Marie (Purchase) Goecke. Don was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who served from 1962 to 1965 and 1966 to 1969 in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Japan and Homestead, Florida, serving as a Teletype Repairman and Military Police Officer. Don lived in the Cincinnati area for most of his life until moving to Georgetown, Indiana. Before retiring, he worked for Gosser Trucking and Excavating in Harrison, Ohio. Don had completed over 60 half-marathons and walked at least five miles a day for the past 3 years. He also loved playing golf, bowling, and cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds.
Don is survived by his wife and love of his life, Beverley (Lamb) Goecke; daughter, Jessica (PJ) Walter; granddaughters, Maddie and Annabelle Walter; sisters, Diane Noel and Dawn Hicks; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
