Donald Earl Elmore

July 28, 1956 — January 6, 2025

Memphis, Indiana

Donald Earl Elmore, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 6, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on July 28 1956, in Erwin, North Carolina, Donald was a man of resilience and kindness who dedicated his life to serving others.

His remarkable journey began when he entered the United States Air Force in 1974, where he honorably served for 23 years, earning a rightful place among those proud to call themselves Veterans. Following his military career, Donald transitioned to a civilian role as a truck driver and later a dispatcher for H&B Leasing Trucking Company, where his precision and dedication shone brightly.

Donald was a pillar of strength for his family and community. He was deeply committed to his faith, serving as an Elder at Memphis Christian Church in Memphis, Indiana. He was known for his caring nature, always bringing joy to the children at church by handing out Dum Dum suckers every week, a small yet significant gesture that endeared him to so many.

Our memories of Donald are rich in love and laughter. He found simple pleasures in life, whether it was cooking for family gatherings, enjoying the thrill of riding his motorcycle, or camping under the stars. He relished spending time with his loved ones and shared countless fun-filled moments with his sons, enjoying the warmth and comfort of family life. Donald's passion for horses and volunteering at the church further showcased his vibrant spirit and desire to contribute to the well-being of those around him, and for them to have a relationship with God.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Tonia C. Elmore, and his cherished sons: Donald Elmore, Jr., Spencer (Rebecca) Elmore, Bradley (Renee) Huffman, Franklin Huffman, and Ronnie Huffman. He was also the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His legacy continues with his brothers, Ronald (Anne Marie) Elmore, William (Vicki) Elmore, Dwight (Pansy) Elmore, and sisters, Cindy Jernigan and Dorothy Coats, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his spirit in their hearts.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Emma Elmore, and his brothers, Ottis Elmore, John Elmore, and Marvin Elmore, who welcomed him with open arms.
