Donald "Don" Murphy

Donald "Don" Murphy, 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
He was born on February 11, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to Everett and Ruby (Schooler) Murphy. Don was a proud graduate of Southern High School, class of 1967. Don was a member of the United States Army Reserves, where he met a lifelong friend and band member, Frank Shee. Don continued his love of music by being a part of multiple bands throughout his life. He retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education as an Electronics Engineer.
He is preceded in death by his father, Everett Leon Murphy; mother, Ruby Dean Murphy; brothers, Leo and Leon Murphy; and sister, Joan Murphy Slusher.
Don is survived by his loving Wife of 25 years, Mary Ann Murphy; son, Bryan Nicholas Murphy (Jessica); daughter, Cristy Michelle DeShazo; and grandchildren, Amelia Murphy, Dawson Murphy, and Weston Murphy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2022 and from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, March 14, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions-East Louisville Chapel, (235 Juneau Dr.). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Crosswater Gardens (7110 Billtown Road) in Louisville.
