Mr. Donald Wesley Banks, "Bird", of Louisville, Kentucky entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 64 years old.
Donald accepted Christ in his life at an early age. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Donald was the oldest sibling of four children. The son to the late John & Edna Banks, Sr. He was born July 19, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Shawnee High School. Mr. Banks was a big gentleman with a big gentle heart and a laid back character & spirit. In his career, he was in restaurant management at Lums Restaurant, a breakfast coordinator for over 25 years at McDonald's restaurant, and he was in the custodian industry with Matt Cleaning Services, working at WHAS11 news station, Southwest Government Center, & several local banks. Donald enjoyed grilling, cooking, listening to R&B music, playing the lottery, betting on horse racing, spending time with family & friends, watching movies & t.v. shows (some of his favorite were Perry Mason, Columbo, and MASH). He was a UofL fan and he loved his white vehicles & they were always "clean & spotless".
Donald was preceded in death by his best friend and loving fiance' Virginia "Jenny" Turner-Brown of over 30 years; parents, John and Edna Banks, Sr.; sister, Beverly Banks; brother, John Banks, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Robrecka Thomas and her fiance', Lee Jones, Sr.; grandchildren, Danazha Jones, Lee Jones, Jr., and Denim Thomas; sister, Kim Banks; grandmother, Katherine McAttee; uncles, James McAttee, James Banks, and Percy Pool; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and also a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews of the Calhoun-Turner family.
Mr. Donald Banks was loved by many. He will be missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. His Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
