Devon Mcclain

Devon Everett McClain, age 88 of Louisville, passed away August 10, 2010. He was a WWII Navy Veteran who sailed all around the world, and especially loved New York City. He grew up in Pekin, Illinois, and worked with many organizations including the Boys Club, Junior Achievement and various church organizations. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a founder of the Distiller's Feed Research Council at the University of Louisville and was a Master Distiller and former technical director of quality control at Jim Beam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. and Bessie Van Cleave McClain and his sister, Mildred Mason.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Bettie V. Sutter McClain; children, Janice L. Koch (Steven), David D. McClain (Marcia), Scott J. McClain (Debra); sister, Dorothy Murray; and grandchildren, Christopher James McClain, Jennifer Alexandra McClain, Amanda Lynn McClain, and Megan Ashley McClain.

Funeral Ceremony will be 4 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown with visitation from noon until time of service. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts.
