Derrick Demetrius Greer, 38, loving husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, and friend to many, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 6, 2017. He was an employee at Horseshoe Casino. Derrick enjoyed cooking and fishing. He was selfless in every sense of the word, always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
He was born on February 4, 1979, in Helena, Arkansas. Derrick is survived by his wife, Trisha (Reinert) Greer; children, Isaiah, Derrick, Learah, Darion, Dayson, and Amarah; parents, Prince, Sr., and Amelanie (Southers) Greer, Priscilla and Robert Dockery, and Thomas Hunter; siblings, Steven Greer (Lisa), Prince, "Eddie" Greer, Jr. (Teresa), Angela Larry (Cory), Lutasha Randel (Charlie), Stephanie Calhoun, Thomas "JoJo" Hunter (Shadreka), Ervin Calhoun, Markelius Calhoun, David Hunter, Jonathan Hunter, and Tomasa Hunter; parents-in-law, Janice and Mark Reinert; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Galatian Baptist Church (2020 Maryland Avenue, New Albany) and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. His Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
