Dennis Wayne Burkhead, 70, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered eternal rest while at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 4, 2023. Dennis was a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend. While in the United States Coast Guard, Stationed in Alaska, He met the love of his life, Kathy Burkhead. Wild and care free, living life on his terms, never meeting a stranger. Dennis always had a warm smile and story to share.
He was born on July 29, 1953 in Tampa, Florida to Frank and Carol (Terrance) Burkhead. He is preceded in death by his Father, Frank Narvel Burkhead, Mother, Carol and husband George Burkhead, Brothers, David "Frankie" Burkhead, Robert Burkhead, and John Burkhead.
Dennis is survived by his loving Wife of 51 years, Kathy Heglin Burkhead; Children, Dennis C. (Christie) Burkhead, Kerri A. (William) Burke, and Denise M. (Patrick) Rodriguez; Grandchildren, Sarah Burkhead, Adam Burkhead, Ashley (Corban) Silveria-Herrera, Emily Burke, David Rodriguez, Bryant Rodriguez, and Bailey Rodriguez; Siblings, Cynthia McKee, Angela (Brother Arville) Decker, Oscar (Barbara) Luckenbill, and Michael Luckenbill; Step-Mom, Peggy Roney, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory forever. You will be missed but in the hearts of those who love you, you will always be there.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
