Demar Auston Nelson

Demar A. "Dee" Nelson, 52, of Greenville, Indiana, was born to his parents Janet A. Nelson and David Pitts on December 1, 1971. Dee was born and raised in Detroit, MI and attended Detroit Public Schools. He traveled and lived in several cities before settling down in Ohio for several years. Dee then met his first wife and moved to Indiana. After his divorce, Dee met Alexis in September of 2008 as co-workers at Frisch's. On December 21, 2008 they became a couple and from that day forward could always be seen together. Dee and Alexis married in January 2017. Out of this union, a daughter, Tristen, was born. The duo became a trio and could be seen everywhere together as a tight family unit. Dee was an avid sports fan, especially Michigan teams. He had a special connection with kids and animals and was loved by everyone that met him. On February 9, 2024, Dee met an untimely death in an auto accident.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his uncle, Eddie Nelson; grandfather, Charlie Wilbert; and grandmother, Del Vance.

Dee is survived by his loving wife, Alexis Hopper Nelson; daughters, Bryauna Nelson, Olivia Nelson, and Tristan Baylee Nelson; sons, De'Angelo Dishman and Bert (Randie) Bare; grandchildren, Arianna Bare, Brooklynn Bare, Cait Bare, and Leighla Crockett; siblings, Beth (Victor) Lewis and Lemar (Jennifer) Nelson; nephews, Victor Lewis II, Qwon Lewis, Courtney (Shaneece) Lewis, Cody Lombardo, Christopher Nelson, and Kyle Nelson; great-nephew, Xaiver Johnson, Marcus Johnson, and Shaun Lewis; mother-in-law, Beth Wilbert; father-in-law, Tony Wilbert; brother-in-law, T.J. (Amy) Wilbert; grandmother-in-law, Rose Wilbert; 5 beloved fur babies and 2 beloved grand fur babies.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers in their time of need.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
