Delpha Mae Elswick

Delpha Mae Elswick, 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. Delpha loved country music, especially Loretta Lynn. She was a talented musician herself, who sang and played guitar. Delpha also enjoyed playing bingo and card games, like poker and Euchre. Above all, Delpha was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.

She was born on January 10, 1939, in London, Kentucky, to Rollie and Etta (Lewis) Shelton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Elswick; brothers, Bill Shelton, Bennie Shelton, Ray Shelton, and Dan Shelton; and sister, Marie Barley.

Delpha is survived by her son, Lonnie E. (Becky) Elswick; daughters, Dinah (Herman) Beasley, Debra (Kenny) Bohne, Doretta (Ray) Self, Darlene (Billy) Mullinix, and Delmira Elswick; brothers, Delmar (Carol) Shelton and Dale (Patty) Shelton; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A private burial will be held at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park at a later date.
