Debra Kay Matthews

Debra "Debbie" Kay Matthews, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on July 11, 2024. Debbie was the definition of a fighter. She had persevered through many illnesses and trials in her life. She has displayed a life of a survivor in many cases. Her strength, determination and commitment to her family is one that everyone can truly admire. Most importantly, Debbie was considered to be the greatest mother ever by her children. Debbie was a mother, daughter, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and too many, a second Momma. Debbie will be remembered as being the life of the party. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on November 22, 1963 in Louisville Kentucky to William and Edith Matthews. She is preceded in death by her father, William Matthews.

Debbie is survived by her loving family, children, Shane (Kandi) Matthews, Cory Schuler, Heather (Arin Weaver) Matthews; mother, Edith Matthews; grandchildren, Kalli Schuler, Kayden Banet; siblings, Georgia Brooks, Billy (Jennifer) Matthews, Eric Matthews; fur babies, Roscoe, CeCe and BeBe; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever. 

Visitation will be on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

The family requests that memorial contributions in Debbie's honor be made to Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions to assist with final expenses.
