David L. Townsend, 78, of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
David graduated from Morehead State University and did graduate work at the University of Louisville. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972, serving in Berlin, Germany. David was a member of Westport Road Baptist Church, where he was an active deacon. He also enjoyed volunteering with the VA and riding his motorcycle.
Preceded in death by his parents, H.L. and Beulah Townsend; and siblings, Gay Sandelin, Patricia Townsend, L.M. Townsend, and Paul R. Townsend.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jan Townsend; daughters Kerry Townsend (Hichem Frigui) and Stacey Carver Wold (Scott Wold); and grandsons, Devin and Dillon Carver; numerous nieces, a nephew, and extended family.
Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Westport Road Baptist Church, (9705 Westport Road). His memorial service will be at 12:30 pm that day at the church with inurnment following at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
Memorial Contributions in David's memory may be made to the Veterans Administration or Westport Road Baptist Church.
