David Edward Marcum, 78, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, at his home with his loving family by his side. David was a U.S. Navy veteran that served during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the New Albany and Sellersburg American Legion. He was an avid gardener, card player, and horse racing fan, but family always came first for David, and spending time with them was his favorite pastime.
He was born on September 25, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Charles and Alberta (Abbott) Marcum. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Marcum; and niece, Wendy Surratt.
David is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda (Langford) Marcum; son, Kevin (Rhonda Schmolke) Marcum; daughter, Krista (Jae) Rodriguez; brothers, Danny (Frances) Marcum and Michael (Krista) Marcum; sister-in-law, Sue Marcum; brother-in-law, Danny (Mona) Langford; grandson, Tyler (Adrianna Osborn) Bohne; great-grandchildren, Xander Bohne and Zayden Bohne; stepmother, Gayle Marcum; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen in regards to David's wishes. His family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
The family requests that contributions in David's memory be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
