David Herbert Jones, Sr.

David Herbert Jones, Sr., 85, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. He was a former employee at Hobart in Louisville. In his younger years, David was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Being in the woods was where he found God. In 1983, David, along with his late wife, Anita, were saved and baptized.

He was a great storyteller and avid knife collector. David was also somewhat of a handyman and loved helping others, especially when it came to fixing bicycles for children in the neighborhood. He liked cooking, working in the yard and most of all, spending time with his family. David was very fond of his dog, Grizzly, and cat, Kitty.

David was born on December 13, 1937 in New Albany to Edward and Emma (Antle) Jones. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Anita; son, David "Davy" Jones, Jr.; and siblings, Jerry, Bill, Tommy Jones, JoAnn Flowers and Patricia Spitznagle.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Kost (Denny); daughter-in-law, Katie Jones; grandchildren, Jessica Estes (Caleb), Jesse Kost; great-grandchildren, Susan and Sebastian Estes; sister, Linda Rowe; and niece, Janet Matthews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
