David Francis Johannides, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024.
He was born on December 7, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Francis and Gertrude (Scherrer) Johannides. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Johannides and step-mother, Mildred Mae Johannides.
David was a graduate of Albion College and the University of Michigan Hospital Administration Program. He served as hospital administrator in Michigan, Washington, Tennessee and Kentucky. David started Tri County Hospital in LaGrange, KY, currently called Baptist Health LaGrange. He retired as the Chief Operating Officer after 19 years of service with Norton Healthcare.
David enjoyed watching his beloved University of Michigan play football and basketball. He proudly ran in four Boston Marathons including the 100th running of the race, he also ran numerous Derby Festival Mini Marathons. David also loved to play golf.
He led Bible studies in Precept and Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). David was a longtime member of Middletown United Methodist Church.
David is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Ruth Johannides; daughter, Catherine Vaughn (Chris); son, John Johannides (Martha); sister, Carol Keller; Sister in law, Margot von Forell and grandchildren, CJ Vaughn, Casey Vaughn, Elizabeth Johannides, Rebekah Johannides and Abigail Johnnides.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 19th, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 AM at Middletown United Methodist Church (11902 Old Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40243).
