David Scott Hanes, Jr.

David Scott Hanes, Jr., age 38 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. David was a loving son, brother, boyfriend and an amazing father. He was an avid video gamer, he enjoyed "The Walking Dead" comic series, rap music and was a UofL Cardinals fan. He had the most comforting hugs and the best belly laughs. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

David was born July 18, 1984 in Louisville Kentucky. He graduated from Atherton High School in 2002. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Hanes; his maternal grandparents, Eva Lunsford and Sylvester Lunsford, Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Dr. Mervel and Elizabeth Hanes; and his uncle, Sylvester Lunsford, Jr.

David is survived by his father, David Scott Hanes, Sr.; his sister, Liz Hanes; his fiancée, Hannah Whitehouse; and their two daughters, Eva and Violet Hanes; and other family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of David's life will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 am, followed by interment in Resthaven Memorial Park.
