Mr. David G. Brandon, age 68 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. David was a man of valor, not only in his actions, in his service to his country with two tours in Vietnam, but truly in his heart. He was always the true gentleman, would treat me like such a princess when opening doors, walking on the street side of the sidewalk, carrying my purse no matter the condition of his back or the pain he endured, ordering in restaurants for me, or just generally protecting me. He was the best friend a girl could have, and I loved that boy! He had the best sense of humor of anyone I've ever known, entertained people really well, and we would laugh for hours alone at home or in the car, making up silly stories…mostly about ourselves…and with David impersonating so many characters. I will really miss you, Suggie. I hope I laugh again soon. When I do, I will ALWAYS think of you. Your Devoted Wife, Dottye.
David was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. His life passion and a huge part of his talent was singing, singing, singing. He was a proud and patriotic Marine- never an "ex-Marine".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Stafford Brandon and Mildred Lemacks. His survivors include his wife, Dottye (Smith) Brandon; his children, Greg Shealy and Tuesday Crosby; siblings, Stafford Brandon (Alice) and Jeanette Mollycheck (Ralph); five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Saturday, October 22, 2011, 3:00, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Louis Humes and Rev. Richard Smith, the brother of David's wife, Dottye. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 13800 Aiken Rd., Louisville, Ky., 40245.
