David Frederick Williams

January 10, 1946 — March 4, 2025

David Frederick Williams, born on January 10, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, departed this life on March 4, 2025. He was a devoted family man, a skilled professional, and a kind-hearted friend whose laughter and character left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David began his career as a carpenter, before becoming an operating engineer. He was a steadfast member of Operating Engineers, Local 324 for an impressive 56 years. His dedication to his work and community was evident through his commitment to excellence and service.

A proud graduate of Thurston High School in Redford, Michigan, in 1964, David embraced life with a warmth and charm that made him a beloved figure in both his personal and professional circles. He never met a stranger, and his delightful sense of humor, wit, and engaging personality consistently uplifted those around him.

David's life was enriched by meaningful memories shared on family trips and playful moments spent "playing army" with his children. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, engaging in hobbies such as woodworking, fishing, golfing, and visiting the casino. These passions not only brought him great joy but also bonded him closely with his family and friends.

After retiring in Michigan, David made the decision to move to Louisville, Kentucky, where he continued to build a loving community and create lasting memories. His pride in his family was evident in every conversation; he considered his four sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren his proudest accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Williams; parents, Ernest and Ruth Williams; brother, Thomas Williams and sister, Ruth Ann Martin.

David leaves behind to cherish his memories, his sons, Kevin (Barb), Ken (Lori), Eric (Tanya) Rakutt, Scott (Maureen); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, James Williams and Steve (Sherrie) Williams; sister-in-laws, Donna (David) Masino and Donna Glaspie; brother-in-law, Steve (Teresa) Glaspie and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

David's legacy will be celebrated at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, where a visitation will be held on March 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on March 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the kindness he extended to everyone he encountered.

David Frederick Williams lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his journey.
