David Wayne Carpenter

David Wayne Carpenter, 70, was taken in the arms of Jesus on December 4, 2023.
He is now in the loving embrace of his mother, Lucille. David was born on July 18, 1953 in Shelbyville, Kentucky to the late William and Lucille (Wilson) Carpenter.
He married Lisa Branch on March 30, 1979 and they had two children, Todd and Jennifer, numerous beloved pets, Hollie, Pennie, Lillie, Jordan and Dexter. He was a member of DeMolay International and loved it. David was an avid UK football fan and went to games both home and away since the 1980's. Lisa is an avid U of L fan, so big "house divided". He also was involved with coaching his son in football in elementary school. He adored his grandchildren, Logan, William and Alexander. He was not able to be an organ donor but was able to donate his corneas and give the gift of sight to two people.
David is survived by his loving wife of 44 1/2 years, Lisa Branch Carpenter; son, Todd Carpenter (Phoebe); Jennifer Biller (Luke); sisters, Cindy Jennings (Russell), Michelle Gaskin; niece, Tonya Combs; nephew, Dustin Jennings and other extended family.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (508 Breckenridge Lane, St Matthews, KY 40207) with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery (1600 Newburg Road Louisville, KY 40205).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions in David's memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, which David and Lisa faithfully supported.
