David Anthony Kohl, age 25 of Louisville, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013. He attended St. Patrick's Elementary and graduated from St. Xavier High School. He also attended University of Louisville and University of Kentucky. He was an Eagle Scout, Troop #380 and had a personal commitment to community service. He was a varsity wrestler at St. X, an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, earned two Kentucky Master Angler Awards and has a state and national record for bow fishing. He worked for the Kentucky Alcohol and Beverage Control and the U.S. Department of Justice. He was a recently discharged proud member of the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Lance Corporal who served as a Scout, Forward Observer, Fire Control Officer and was an expert rifleman. His last duty station was at 29 Palms, California.
David is survived by his loving parents, Iole Chiedi Kohl and V. Dave Kohl; brothers, Blaine (Lisa) and Jason (Janet); grandmother, Teodora Chiedi; nephew, Hunter; and nieces, Amber and Ashley; aunt, Giovanna Chiedi; uncle, Anthony Chiedi (Elizabeth); two cousins, Michael and Christopher. He is also survived by a host of relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Road with visitation there from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Services and burial will also be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd West, Silver Spring, Maryland, with visitation there from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.
