Darlene Marie Morrow

January 12, 1955 — August 17, 2018

Entered Into Life…January 12, 1955, Darlene Marie Morrow was born to the union of James and Grace Spaulding in Louisville, Kentucky. Darlene was the sister to brothers, Gregory Spaulding (Connie), Rick Spaulding (Calvonne), Terrance Spaulding (LaDora) and her sisters, Francis Taylor and Yolanda Shoulders (Larry), all of which survived her in death. Darlene was a graduate of Male High School and strived to further her education, earning a Bachelor's Degree from Campbellsville University and started working on her Master's Degree before her death.

Darlene was a devoted mother dedicating her life to her loving children, Delane (Brooke), Dana (Angela) and Mikkie Morrow. As a grandmother, Darlene understood the importance of family and enjoyed spending time, sharing wisdom, love and laughter with her surviving grandchildren, Mykah, Mallory, Mason, and Markus. Not one to be without a word of wisdom, Darlene would remind her children that, "The power of life and death was in the tongue," and Darlene made a point to speak life in all that she encountered as the Church Secretary at Bates Memorial Baptist Church where she served faithfully for 12 years before retiring.

Many people would call Darlene an encourager. Darlene had a heart for the underdog, the downtrodden, those imprisoned, those that life had forgotten. Darlene did not forget them. Having her eyesight injured in a car accident, Darlene worked with spiritual insight, often seeing in people what they could not see in themselves. Darlene was a woman after the heart of Joseph, her spirit in tune with visions, dreams, and wisdom that allowed people to have a glimpse of what was possible. Darlene saw people for what they could be and not what the world told them they had to be. Darlene was a light in a world that needed to know even in darkness there was goodness, and we all could find a way to shine.

Entered Into Eternity…On Friday, August 17, 2018, Darlene Morrow entered into eternity. James 1:12 says, "Blessed is the person who perseveres under trial because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." Darlene stood the test. Darlene lived a life of faithfulness and sacrifice. Darlene embraced life's hardships and transformed them into lessons of growth for herself and others. No one who lives a life dedicated to other's ever dies.

Darlene leaves a legacy of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control and we were blessed to have her in our lives to love us, guide us, and provide light for our personal journey.

Our world was made better because Darlene was in it. Thank you, Darlene, for being you. "'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!'"

Darlene leaves to cherish her memory, Delane (Brooke), Dana (Angela) and Mikkie Morrow; her parents, Grace and James Spaulding; grandchildren, Mykah, Mallory, Mayson and Markus; her siblings, Gregory Spaulding (Connie), Rick Spaulding (Calvonne), Terrance Spaulding (LaDora) and Yolanda Shoulders (Larry); and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
