Darlene Elizabeth (Burkhart) Trainor, 74, of Pekin, Indiana passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014. She graduated from Watterson College with a degree in accounting and went on to retire from management at the Best Western Hotel in Cocoa Beach, Florida. An avid reader, Darlene was also a member of the American Legion Post 348 and the Ladies' Auxiliary VFW Post 10131 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Darlene was born on March 22, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Otis E. and Florence L. (Ray) Burkhart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene W. Trainor; and brother, Richard E. Burkhart.
She is survived by her children, Jeania Speckner (Chris), Wendy Robinson, Jeff Trainor (Pam), Brandon Trainor (Jessie); 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Cremation was chosen following Darlene's wishes. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with her care.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association (4100 Churchman Avenue, Louisville, KY 40215).
