Daniel Henry Lenfert, 74, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He was a 1967 graduate of Providence High School, a former longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and a current member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church.
Dan was an avid hunter and proud to have scored a Boone & Crockett deer some 25 years ago. He was a skilled shooter, gunsmith and ammo re-loader. Dan also enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, playing golf and poker, riding motorcycles, and going on vacations with his family and buddies. The most important thing to Dan was being a Papa and taking the time to build strong relationships, both with family and friends.
A natural born teacher in many different ways, Dan received his Master's Degree in education and later transitioned from the classroom, and spent the majority of his career as a contractor until retirement.
He was born on March 26, 1949 in New Albany, Indiana to May (Rice) Lenfert and the late Bernard Lenfert. Along with his father, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis.
In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Theresa (Popp) Lenfert; children, Renee Kinnaird (Chris), Brian Lenfert (Audra); siblings, identical twin, David (Marcella), Richard, Patricia Lenfert; sister-in-law, Kathy Lenfert; grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon Martinez, Brianna Rodriguez (David), Lexie, Annie, Samuel, John Lenfert; great-grandson, Theodore Rodriguez; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
