Daniel D. Brackens, 57, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on July 4, 2014. An avid fisherman, his family and friends reaped the benefits of his talents as a musician, poet, and chef. Most importantly, he treasured time spent with his family.
Daniel was born on February 27, 1957 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, to Odell Brackens, Sr., and the late Anna Mae (Beard) Brackens. Along with his mother, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Brackens, Donald Brackens; and sisters, Pattie Brown, Dianna Simmons, Annette Brackens, and Marilyn Brackens.
He is survived by his wife, Carrul (Turner) Brackens; sons, Terrence (Jacqui), Terron (Sharica), Travis (Deanna), Tyrone (Tiffany), Joseph, Philip, and Richard; daughters, Tylisha (Roderick), Tamika (Blake), Mary, Missy, and Morticia; brothers, Odell, Jr.(Blanche), George, Kevin, Henry, and Steven Brackens; sisters, Renita Brackens, Devonne Whiting (Art), Lisa Sheppard (Ken), Shawna Brackens, and Trina Brackens-Pullen (Jokton); 56 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; lifelong friend and mother of his children, Elizabeth Wester; and a host of nieces and nephews.
His visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, July 12, at Greater Mount Zion Apostolic Church (3845 Wayne Street, New Albany) followed by his Funeral Service at 1 PM at the church with burial at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
