Dale Alan Schmidt Sr.

Dale Alan Schmidt, Sr., 76, of Floyd County, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly and will miss him immensely. He was born on December 22, 1946, in New Albany to Vincent and Tincy (Livingston) Schmidt. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his grandson, Blake Schmidt; and brother, Vincent "Junie" Schmidt, Jr.

He loved his family, working on his farm, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and fishing in Florida. Dale was generous with his time and was always ready to help others. He was particularly gifted at fixing things and building projects.

Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nina (Kinberger) Schmidt; children, Michelle Apple (Chris), Krista Uhl (Pat), Nichole Slaughter (Nik), and Dale Schmidt, Jr. (Trisha); grandchildren, Adam Uhl, Dylan Schmidt, and Caleb and Abigail Slaughter; sisters, Ann Jones (Chris) and Susan Kelley (Mike); aunts, Evelyn Been and Thelda Mathews; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dale's memory may be made by helping someone in need or doing a random act of kindness.
