D. Wayne Lewis
April 8, 1939 — February 20, 2023
D. Wayne Lewis, 83, of Louisville, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
He was born on April 8, 1939 in Louisville to the late William and Myrtle Lewis. Wayne is also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Lewis and his brother, Lloyd Lewis.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Holly L. Lewis Law (Michael); grandchildren, Katy Lynn Law and Lyndsey Renee Emly (Kyle) and a great grandson, Kyler Michael Emly; niece, Allison Lewis, special friend & companion for last 6 years, Lois Farmer; sister-in-law, Rosa Lewis and his close friends Butch & Pat Lambert, Brad Axwell, Jeff Vick & Laurie Huelsman and Jim Dunlap (Glenda).
Wayne retired from the Ford Truck Plant as Scheduling Supervisor. Everyone who knew him well, knew he loved and collected cars! In his younger days he did figure 8 & rally racings with his TR-3, 64 ½ Mustang, and later an Austin Healy. He was a member of the Zachary Taylor American Legions and the Lyndon Elks Lodge. Wayne also volunteered at the FOP, Fraternal Order of Police in Union Hall on Thurman Lane.
Visitation will be from 12 P.M. to 6 P.M. on Sunday, February 25, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be the following day at the funeral home at 11 A.M.
Memorial contributions in Wayne's memory may be made to any Cancer Society or Humane Society.
