Clyde Dallas Truitt, age 64 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at home with his family. He was born in LaGrange, Kentucky on on March 10, 1959 to the late Winston and Laverne Simpson Truitt. He was a member of Ballardsville Baptist Church. An avid University of Louisville athletics fan from an early age, Dallas enjoyed watching the Cardinals win championships and bowl games while arguing the teams' merits with all comers. Dallas was a long time truck driver who enjoyed being on the road and witnessing all the beauty that the country has to offer. In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Truitt; sister, Lisa Truitt Hutchison; and niece, Terri Michelle Braden.
Dallas' marriage to Carole Oldham (Bloch) gave him two of his greatest joys – son, Michael Allen Truitt (Carrie) and daughter, Sarah Noel Schmetzer. Dallas was blessed with five grandchildren, Aiden Truitt, Ava Schmetzer, Jackson, Samuel and Eleanor Truitt. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed treating them with candy, teasing with them and watching them play soccer.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Dallas is survived by his partner of 15 years, Cheryl Mahoney; sister, Teresa Mikel (Kevin); brothers, Doug Truitt (Kim) and Kenny Truitt; 11 nieces and nephews; and 13 great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 3 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243, and from 9 to 11am on Thursday, April 6th. A celebration of Dallas' life will be there at 11am, with burial to follow in Mt. Tabor UMC Cemetery, Crestwood, Kentucky.
