Clifton L. Brown, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on January 14, 1955, in New Albany, Clifton dedicated his life to both service and craftsmanship, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
After graduating from high school, Clifton pursued his passion for welding, obtaining a welding degree that led him to a fulfilling career. For most of his life, he worked as a welder at various jobs, showcasing not only his skills but also his strong work ethic and determination. His craftsmanship and dedication earned the respect of many and the gratitude of his employers.
Clifton’s commitment to service extended to his military career as well. On August 1, 1974, he entered the United States Army, where he served with honor for five years, attaining the rank of E4. During his distinguished service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and received both the Parachute Badge and Marksman Badge M-16 Rifle with Rifle Bar. Clifton was honorably discharged on February 4, 1979, from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, a period in his life that reflected his bravery and dedication to his country.
Outside of his career and military service, Clifton had a wealth of interests that enriched his life. He found joy in hunting, martial arts, and frequent visits to the gun range. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy.
Clifton is survived by his son, Morris White; daughters, Kanesah Fugett, Brianna Brown, and Alexis Brown; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Rev. James Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifton and Thelma Brown, and his sister, Sylvia Thomas.
A visitation to celebrate Clifton's life will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Clifton L. Brown will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his memory and influence will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
