Clark Russell Duerr, 41, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 30, 2023. A member of Southeast Christian Church, he is survived by his mother, Carol Schick (Bob), and father, Gary Duerr. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Foster and Dimple Duerr, and Charles and Jean Sanders. He is survived by his aunt Linda Whitaker, uncles Keith Duerr and Steve Sanders, along with first cousins Ben Whitaker (Nancy), Jaime Whitaker, Elise Duerr, Chris Sanders, Jason Sanders, Tracey Bunch (Clifton) and numerous other cousins.
Clark was born June 28, 1982, in Louisville, Kentucky. As a young boy, he was loved and nurtured by his Nana and Pop (Donna and Clarence Crigler) and their children, Eric and Kim. He graduated from Christian Academy of Louisville in 2000 and spent the next two years attending Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, before the Colorado countryside lured him away. A few years later, he received his Bachelor's degree, graduating from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. After working for Aerotek in Atlanta for several years, he returned to Louisville, where he was employed with Ryan Companies, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as a National Recruiting Specialist, being the sole recruiter for their national sector.
Early on, Clark spent many hours with his grandparents and cousins on the family farm – playing in the creek, riding four-wheelers, and playing card games. Clark loved to eat and was spoiled by the delights prepared by his Grandma Duerr, Grandma Jean, and his Nana. As he grew older, Clark expressed a true love for anything outdoors, beginning with his abiding attraction for Red River Gorge, going there often throughout his youth and later. As an adult, he continued to manifest this love for the outdoors skiing in Colorado, hiking in Utah, and during a somewhat humorous attempt at surfing while vacationing in Hawaii.
Clark was loved by many for his mischievous grin, subtle humor, and his warm and generous heart. Deeply rooted in his heart was his love for family, celebrating holidays and attending gatherings. All who were blessed to be his friends can also testify regarding his passionate loyalty and devotion.
A funeral service of celebration will be observed at the Chapel in the Woods, Monday, November 6, at 3PM, preceded by visitation beginning at 1PM. A private family burial will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to one of the following:
Bible Study Fellowship,
Hebron Colony,
WaterStep, Robert Alexander Center,
The Healing Place, or another ministry of your choice.
