Clarence Irvin Allen (Carpy), age 90, of Louisville, KY., passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was born and raised in Clarksville, Indiana. He served as a radio operator during WWII and flew in 70 missions before coming home. Carpy owned and operated Wabash Optical in New Albany, Indiana for over 50 years, where he developed life-long friends and acquaintances. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a long-time member of the New Washington Chapter of the Eastern Star. He had a passion for flying airplanes and anything computer related. He was preceded in death by his wives Martha Jackson Allen and Janet Kessell Allen.
Carpy is survived by his loving family, daughter Holly Allen Abrams; son, Lawrence Irvin Allen; his grandson, Connor D. Abrams; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, October 10, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive. A graveside service will be at 11:30am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
