Cile Granville Bowling, 89, of Austin, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. Cile was born to Elijah Bowling and Rose (Rice) Young on October 16, 1935 in Saul, Kentucky. His maternal grandparents, Granville & Armilda (Spurlock) Rice, raised him, his sister, Pearl, and their cousin, Ollie Shaft, with their 11 other children.
Cile was a jack of all trades. He carried the mail by mule in Southeastern, Kentucky. Cile worked as a nursery man for Korfhage's in Shively, Kentucky. He was a laborer for almost 19 years for Arvin Industries in Seymour, Indiana. He also worked as a school bus driver and custodian for Scott County School Discrict #1.
Cile was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan and a UK basketball fan. He enjoyed gardening and kept his lawn cut beautifully and filled with beautiful trees.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Bowling, David (Melissa) Bowling, and Joan (Bob) Wagner; grandchildren, Jami, Jordan, and Justin (April) Bowling, Taylor and Kayla Wagner; and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Honor, Kennedy, and Jackson Bowling, and Mason Wagner.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Delphia Ann (Bradley) Bowling; and his sister, Pearl Gibson.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Redemption Pentecostal Church (33 Wilbur Avenue, Austin, Indiana). His Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at the church with burial Dupont Cemetery.
