Christine "Chris" Stephens Chalek, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
She was born on December 24, 1941 in Honey Bee, Kentucky to the late William Clark and Nora (Perry) Stephens. She is also preceded in death by her sister Janet Iris Karr.
Chris graduated from Lily High School as Valedictorian, she then graduated with honors from Cumberland College and began her teaching career as an English Teacher at Pleasure Ridge High School in Louisville.
Chris is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John D. Chalek, Jr., daughters Jennifer Paige Chalek, Karyn Susanne Wedge (Joshua), grandchildren Michael and Thomas Wedge, siblings Norma Beck and Lloyd D. Stephens (Carolyn) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
The family requests that contributions in Chris's memory be made to the Kentucky Humane Society East Campus (1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville, KY 40222).
