Christine Hatfield was born in Grayson County Kentucky to Tilman and Carrie Hornback Hatfield. Like all her brothers and sisters she was born at home.
Her early schooling was in a one room school house. In 1948 she graduated from Clarkson high school. She enjoyed attending her annual high school reunions. In April 2022 she attended as the oldest graduate present.
In 1951 she married Riley Busroe and they moved to Louisville Kentucky. Ronny was born in 1951 and Karen in 1955. Chris as she was commonly called started working in the dry cleaning business. Beginning as a presser she worked her way up to being the manager of Big Boy Cleaners at 18th and Oak. Even in retirement she continued to work up into her middle 80s. She enjoyed the interaction with her coworkers and customers. After she finally retired many longtime customers would bring clothes to her home for alterations.
Outside of work she was active in a bowling league for over 30 years and a bunco club for 60 years. She also enjoyed word puzzles, reading, bus trips and of course eating. Even in her late 80s and early 90s she would fix three meals a day just for herself. On Sunday she was a regular attender at The Salvation Army South Louisville Church.
In 2021 she moved from her home of 60 years on Dixdale Avenue to Ponder Creek Estates Senior Living where she enjoyed bingo and sharing meals with her new friends .
In November 2022 after a fall in her apartment she moved to Park Terrace rehabilitation hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband and all her brothers and sisters, Donald, Luther, Geneva Horn, Lucille Horn and Holmes.
In recent months she suffered the loss of a niece Linda Horn and two cousins Dixie Hart and Ivene Hornback.
She is survived by her son Ron and his wife Carol as well as daughter Karen Allen. Her son-in-law Maurice Allen died in 1996. She's also survived by grandchildren, Wesley Busroe, Elizabeth Strickland and Melissa Mastin. Great grandchildren Aslyn Strickland, Jackson Strickland, Cali Mastin, Fletcher Busroe, Rooney Busroe, Daxton Mastin and Archer Busroe. As well as a host of nieces nephews and friends.
A visitation will take place from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 8th at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). A service honoring Christine's life will take place at the funeral home on Monday, January 9th at 9:30 am. She will then be laid to rest with her family at Little Clifty United Methodist Church Cemetery in Grayson County, KY at 11:00 am CST on Monday.
