Chris Thompson, 58, of Louisville, Kentucky, left this world on Thursday, October 17, 2024, but his spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
on May 30, 1966, in Rockledge, Florida, Chris was the beloved son of the late Harold and Nancy (Szlagyi) Thompson. He was greatly loved and is now reunited in peace with his granddaughter, Lydia Hughes, who preceded him in death.
Chris’s legacy of love continues through the love of his life of 23 years, Velva Jean "Jeannie" Callahan, and his stepchildren: Angelique Sandage, Rachel (David) Merewether, and Michael (Danielle) Jones. His pride and joy were his grandchildren—Mikel Jones, Kamryn Jones, David "Duke" Merewether Jr., and Dylan Merewether. Chris is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Kelly) Thompson and Alan Thompson, as well as his beloved niece and two nephews—Kirsten, Jeremy, and Jacob Thompson.
A truly one-of-a-kind man, Chris embodied generosity and warmth. His life changed for the better when he and Jeannie found each other; their bond was a beautiful testament to love and partnership. A dedicated worker and a loyal fan, Chris had a passion for the University of Louisville, the Houston Texans, and the Indianapolis Colts. He found joy in golfing, exploring state parks, tending to his backyard, playing with his dogs, and cooking delicious meals.
Friends and family will remember Chris for his laid-back demeanor, his infectious ability to light up any room, and his unwavering commitment to listening and caring for others. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt, but his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved him.
