Chester C. Alexander, Jr., 77, of New Albany passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, sharing that lifetime passion with his children and grandchildren that now carry-on his legacy ever enriched with the spiritual harmony of nature and the love of Christ. He was a member of Bethel AME Church in New Albany where his family came to know and love religion. He was an original member of the Southern Indiana Coon Hunters Association. Chester was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired manager with the General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville, KY.
Chester Jr. was born on April 9, 1934 in New Albany to the late Chester C. and Dorothy M. (Mitchem) Alexander, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Taylor) Alexander, three daughters Stephanie B. (Taylor) Wood, Kaye J. (Alexander) Forte, and Sharon R. Alexander.
He is survived by his children; Robert W. Alexander and Constance L. Webster (Ronald Sr.) of New Albany, Chester C. Alexander III (LaShawan) of Spotsylvania, VA, and Myron L. Alexander (Mona) of Fairborn, OH; his siblings; Marion L. Brown (Avon) and Robert L. Alexander of New Albany, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Thursday at Bethel AME Church (315 East Fifth Street, New Albany) with cremation to follow.
