Charlie Lee Hopson was born in Stanton, TN, on October 7, 1943. He was the youngest child of Simon and Edna Jones-Hopson. He departed this life on December 19, 2023, at Baptist Health Louisville Hospital.
At an early age he received Jesus as Lord and Savior and joined Douglas Chapel CME in Stanton, Tennessee.
Charlie was a graduate of Carver High School Brownsville, Tennessee. Later after graduating from high school, he migrated to Louisville, Kentucky, for better opportunities and started his career at C. L. Cook Dover Corporation as a Lead Machinist. Charlie retired after 42 years of service.
Also, in Louisville, he was a dedicated member of St. Stephen Church and remained a dedicated member and usher for 30 plus years, he was a member of the Central District Baptist Association & General Association Baptist of Kentucky (State Ushers).
Charlie served in office as Vice President of the Ushers Ministry at St. Stephen Baptist Church and for the Central District Baptist Association.
Charlie enjoyed traveling, bowling, hanging out with his brother at Kroger 28th Broadway, catching up with friends at Betterway Gas Station, ushering at the YUM Center, LOVED the Louisville Cardinals and loved supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Edna Jones-Hopson; his baby child, Ebony Hopson; 2 brothers, J. W. (Jet) Shaw and Joe Willie and a brother-in-law, James Peeples.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Stacey Hopson and Stefanie Hopson-Moss (Anthony); brother, Ivy Hopson; sister, Emma Peeples; 7 grandchildren, Anthony Dukes, A'Nesha Evans, Kelsey Fulkerson, Deion Price, Torey Moss, Aaron Moss and Gary Silver; 5 great-grandchildren, Mauriaya Tutt, Ky'Ayre Evans, Ava Dukes, LenNyx Malone and Anthony Dukes Jr. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and MANY friends in many walks of life. He was truly loved by many!
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St Stephen Church, 1018 S. 15th Street, Louisville, KY 40210, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Charlie's life beginning at 1pm.
