Charles "Bam Bam" Wimberly, Jr., 50, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
He was born on June 29, 1973 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Charles and Gail (Ford) Wimberly.
Charles is preceded in death by his late grandparents.
Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Cheyenne Oliver (Paul), bonus daughter, Jasmine Oliver, son, Steven A. Wimberly, bonus brother, John Rodman, cousins, Lawana Briggs, Simone (Sean) Bruce, Kaiden and Kairo, aunt, Tina Mae Hughes, father, Robert Drane along with many cousins, friends and family who will miss him dearly.
Charles proudly served his country as a Navy Veteran for over 10 years. During the Navy he was stationed in Norfolk, VA, and served on the USS Trenton. Charles traveled many places during the Navy. During his free time Charles enjoyed playing video games, collector of Star Wars and Marvel memorabilia, avid UofL fan, and enjoyed telling his career stories to family and friends. He graduated from Western High School in 1991, and during those years he played football, wrestling, tennis, cross country and chess. For a decade he wrestled for Ohio Valley known as "Vivacious Charles." Charles started his police career in 1996 with Louisville Metro but then transferred to Clark County Sheriff's Department in Indiana, where he was known as "Wim Dog" and Big Wim". We will see Charles again in a galaxy far far away...
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. ~ 1:00 p.m. at South Louisville Seventh Day Adventist Church. 7319 South Side Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40214. His Funeral Service will begin Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the church with burial to follow at African American Bloomfield Cemetery, 176 Hill Street, Bloomfield, Kentucky 40008.
The family requests that contributions in "Bam Bam's" memory be made to Kosair Children's Hospital.
