Charles W. "Charlie" "Bill" Hays, Jr. 74, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. He was a former member of the United States Army Reserve and a former mentor for the local Junior Achievement program. Charlie was a current employee of the Kinergy Corporation where he has been an employee for over 30 years.
Charlie was born on October 9, 1939 in New Albany to the late Charles W., Sr. and Margaret (Richards) Hays. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret (Hoffman) Hays.
He is survived by his children, William "Tex" Wells, Shaun Muth (Edmond), Jennifer Nall (John), Susie Rinker, Chuck Hays (Tammy), Kevin Hays, Matthew Hays; siblings, Deanna Lowe (Carl), Jim Hays (Pat); 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9 AM. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
The family requests that contributions in Charlie's memory be made to VistaCare Hospice (391 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
