Charles Ray "Sparky" Sparkman, Sr., 76, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, July 28, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
He was a Chevy enthusiast and had a successful career in car sales. Sparky was a lifelong collector of coins and later set up his own business at the World's Most Awesome Flea Market in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. He cherished the last twelve years at the flea market sharing knowledge and making new friends. His kindness and charisma touched all in his life.
Sparky was known for his generosity and enjoyed helping families in need, as well as donating to charities. He belonged to and made contributions to the National Humane Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, and the National Democratic Party.
He was born on January 25, 1942 in Knott County, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Verna (Sizemore) Sparkman. Along with his parents, Sparky was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of 28 years, Norma (Staton) Sparkman; adoptive mother, Grace Sparkman; siblings, Brenda Pollard, Deverriall Rosas, Guy Sizemore, Eddie Sparkman (Guerdy), Paul Sparkman (Dewilla), Wayman Sparkman (Martha); his loving companion, Ruby Shelburne; and his beloved pet chihuahua, PeeWee.
He is survived by his children, Nina Staton, Charles R. Sparkman, Jr., Lena Sparkman Stover; siblings, Chester Sizemore (Cindy), Anita Rochner (Ivan), Rusty Sizemore (Vickie), Jean Hume (Larry), Leonard Sparkman (Jayne), Lenna Dixon (Letch), Marjorie Lemster (Clarence); and grandchildren, Alyssa Bailey, Stephen Allen, Thomas Tobbe, Sean Stover, Rayquel Sparkman, and Kirsten Allen.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9 AM. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
