Charles Alvin Shewmaker

Charles Alvin Shewmaker, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was a proud member of Silver Street United Methodist Church. Charles enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, watching sports and animal planet, gardening, gospel music, fishing, and most importantly spending time with his family.

He was born on February 10, 1938 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Charles and Thelma (Yeager) Shewmaker. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee Shewmaker; granddaughter, Christina Schubnell; sister, Doris Tabor; and two brothers, Gary and Paul Shewmaker.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Stella Marie Shewmaker; daughter, Kimberly (Dennis) Schubnell; grandchildren, Whitney (Chris) Rhodes, Courtney Shewmaker, Cynthia Schubnell, and Casie Fraley; great-grandchildren, Rayden, Logan, Brooklyn, William, Apollo and Emily; two nieces, Brenda (Tom) Bryant and Niece, Kelly (Doug) Douds.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Edwardsville Cemetery - Tunnel Hill in Georgetown, Indiana.
