Charles Paul Russell, May 14th, 2024 born in San Antonio, Texas on June 17th 1952. Peacefully passed alongside family member at his side. He was a resident of Louisville and called Louisville his home from the early 60’s. He attended St. Ann’s Catholic School in San Antonio Texas and subsequently St. Margaret Mary School to finish out 8th grade. He graduated from Trinity High School 1970 and also attended Bellarmine University, majoring in social work. He worked in juvenile corrections for Southfield and also with Jefferson County Youth Detention Center. He also worked as a realtor during the early to mid 2000's.
Charles Enjoyed working with artistic endeavors, including painting on canvas boards, charcoal and colored pencils. He loved music, generally rock n roll and dabbled in old classic cars, attending hot rod custom car shows. Automobiles were definitely a passion he enjoyed and proudly drove and showed pride of ownership.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Paul A and Emma A Russell; and nephew, Kenneth M. Geisler II.
He is survived by his son Derek W. Russell of Charleston South Carolina; grandchildren, Carter and Cadence; brothers, James Russell (Mary), and Gerard Russell (Carol); sister, Maria “Tess” Russell; step-mother, Yolanda Russell; step-brother, Bryan Callisay of Palm Bay, FL; nephews, Christopher James; Bryan Patrick (Christine), Gregory Paul; Christian Vincent; nieces, Elizabeth Alexandria Higdon (Garey II); Emily Rose Morales (Carlos), Maria Araceli Geisler; Great Nephews, Garey Higdon III, Elijah Braxton; Great niece, Mary Anne Constance.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 3:30pm-8:00pm, at Newcomer East Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY, 40243. A Christian Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville Ky, 40222, on Thursday, May 23rd, at 10:00 am, interment to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
