Charles Pendleton

Charles E. "Ed" Pendleton, 66, of Georgetown passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council #1221, VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693, American Legion Post 42 in Floyds Knobs, and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. A retiree after 45 years with Fischer's Meat Packing Company in Louisville, Ed was a family man. He spent his time camping, fishing, and golfing with friends and family. He could often be seen riding his lawnmower to visit his neighbors, and Ed had great times playing pinochle with his brothers.

Ed was born on October 7, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Elroy F. and Virginia Mae (Moss) Pendleton. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Angie Pendleton and sister, Linda Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jo Ann (Andres) Pendleton; sons, Dwayne Pendleton (Beth) of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Matt Pendleton (Leslie) of Greenville, Indiana; grandchildren, Nataleigh Kabler, Bradley and Elle Pendleton; great grandchild, Bentley Kabler; brothers, Steve Pendleton (Trish), Bobby Pendleton, Rich Pendleton (Jackie), and Tom Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends special gratitude to his sister-in-law, Alice Volpert for bringing Communion to Ed every Sunday and to all his family and friends who helped, prayed, and cared for Ed along his journey.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Saturday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs, IN) with military honors and burial to follow in the church cemetery.
