Charles Edward Meredith, Jr.

Charles Edward Meredith, Jr., 83, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. Charles was a hot walker and groomer at Churchill Downs for many years. His love for horses took him all around the racetracks of the U.S. to groom and care for horses.

He was born on April 20, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Charles Meredith, Sr., and Dorothy Grismer. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Michael Meredith.

Charles is survived by his sons, Charles Meredith III and Raymond Meredith; siblings, Sharon Geary, Jack Evarts, Jr., Dennis Meredith, Lonnie Meredith, and Donna Meredith; grandchildren, Charles Meredith IV, Ellis Meredith, and Matthew Meredith; and his nieces who cared for him for several years, Rhonda Evans and Tammy Gray.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
