Charles F. Hickman Jr., a loving father, devoted grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 10, 1955, in Louisville, he was the son of Carrie Lee Hickman and the late Charles F. Hickman, Sr. Throughout his life, Charles exemplified warmth, humor, and an unwavering faith as a faithful Christian man.
For over thirty years, Charles dedicated himself as an inspector at Martinrea Auto Company, a role he embraced with commitment and pride. He was not only known for his professional integrity but also for his ability to connect with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on coworkers and friends alike.
Charles was a proud United States Army veteran, having served his country with honor, which showcased his character of dedication and service. His military experience only enhanced the depth of admiration and respect he garnered throughout his life.
Education was essential to Charles, marked by his graduation from Male High School. However, his true education continued within the pages of his beloved Bible. He found immense joy and purpose in sharing scripture, often setting aside moments to read and discuss it with his grandchildren. Those quiet, loving moments became treasured memories, casting a lasting influence on his family.
Fishing was one of his greatest passions, along with watching UofL Basketball, where he cheered loudly for his team, especially when sharing these experiences surrounded by family. Family was the core of his life; he took immense pride in watching his family grow, reveling in the joys and milestones that were shared. He was blessed with fifteen loving grandchildren, each holding a special place in his heart.
Charles will be profoundly missed by his mother, Carrie Lee Hickman, his sons, Deshon L. Hickman and Charles T. Hickman, and his adoring grandchildren: Natalie Marie Flynn, Christian Hickman, Cole Hickman, alongside his many other grandchildren who adored and looked up to him. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Jerome Hickman, Jackie Hickman, Rosalind Hickman, Stephanie Hickman, Eric Hickman, Rhonda Hickman, Shonna Hickman, and Keith Hickman, who share in the mourning of their devoted brother, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles F. Hickman, Sr., his loving wife Diana Hickman, his son, William Dougherty, and his sister, Roberta Hickman. Their spirits will forever remain intertwined with his, as he now joins them in eternal rest.
The visitation will be held on February 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243.
