Charles Heitz, Sr.

Charles Heitz, Sr., 72, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Charles was always a hard worker and could fix anything with his hands. He worked at Dant Clayton for over 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing PlayStation 4.

He was born on February 23, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Robert Heitz and Viva (Caudill) Martin. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Heitz; and granddaughter, Shianne Lawless.

Charles is survived by his son, Charles Heitz, Jr.; stepchildren, Gabriel and Rosanna Box; brothers, Robert Heitz, David Heitz (Scott), and Dennis Martin (Patty); sister, Diana Mongold; granddaughters, Brenda Lee Heitz, Marissa Woodruff, McKaylyn Box, and McKinsey Stepp; and great-grandson, Zenel Lawless.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Charles's wishes, and he will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
