Charles Adam (Charlie) Cooper, Jr., aged 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Although we are absolutely heart broken, and will miss him terribly, we are comforted to know that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Geraldine Triplett Cooper, who recently preceded him in death.
Charlie is the loving father of six children: Kitty (Bob) Baumgart, Kim (Gary) Bohannon, Kyle (David) Pierce, Chuck (Nikki) Cooper, Karrie (Joe) Messina, and Chris Cooper. He is the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren: Bradley Bohannon, Gretchen James, Brent Bohannon, Erica Tingle, Greta Schneider, Stacey Downey, Nick Messina, Greg Baumgart, Lindsay Clore, Mackenzie Hickey, Grant Baumgart, Ryan Messina, Adam Cooper, Kassie Rice, Paige Pearson, Alan Cooper, Ava Cooper and 21 greatgrandchildren.
Charlie was a long-time employee of Henry Vogt Machine Co. and he relished his days as a successful professional dog handler with the American Kennel Club. His devotion to and love of family was what fueled his precious life.
He was preceded in death by great-granddaughter (Christina) and sister (June Hatcher). Charlie is also survived by sister-in-law Dee Taylor and nieces and nephews Jack Hatcher, Paul Hatcher, Angie Sledge, Tammy Fetzer, and Vicki Westervelt.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 4:00 at Hikes Point Christian Church, and will be immediately followed by a memorial service at the church.
