Charlene Rae Mikel

Charlene Rae Mikel, 79, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away at home with family and friends by her side on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Charlene worked for over 15 years at Fawcett Printing Company. She spent time working at Churchill Downs and the Census Bureau. Charlene was a selfless woman, who had a heart for stray animals and people in need. She loved God, her family, and friends and never missed a chance to play Bingo or take a trip to the boat.

She was born on January 28, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Charles Meredith, Sr., and Doris (Duff) Meredith. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Charles Scott Isaacs; twin brother, Charlie Meredith, Jr.; and brother, Terry Meredith.

Charlene is survived by her daughter, Angie (Gene Stewart) Isaacs; son, Robert (Kristie) Mikel; stepchildren, Pam (Bob) Grant, Larry (Laura) Mikel, and Denny Mikel; grandchildren, Tabitha Mikel, Jessica (David) Riedinger, and Cody Mikel; great-granddaughter, Coral Riedinger; sister, Victoria (Rob Reed) Shafiei; sister-in-law, Margaret Meredith; the fathers of her children, Robert H. Mikel and Charles L. Isaacs; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Charlene's wishes.
