Chad Evan Cyr, 61, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born on March 23, 1963, in Spokane, Washington, Chad was born to Darlene (Evans) Lobdell and the late Joseph Cyr. He retired from Engine 20 for the City of Louisville, completing a dedicated 22-year career as a firefighter. His commitment to health and fitness shown through with his work as a fitness instructor at the YMCA locations in Southern Indiana. Chad was proud to be a two-time Ironman, a testament to his determination and dedication.
As a boy, Chad developed a joy for riding his bike and the freedom that it offered, a love that continued throughout his life. He took advantage of any opportunity to be outdoors, with a particular love for surfing and spending time in the ocean. Chad had an adventurous spirit and was fortunate enough to have traveled the world.
His heart was devoted to his family and he was a dedicated father, husband, and a generous friend and neighbor. In addition to his father, Chad was preceded in death by his step-father, Stan Lobdell. Along with his mother, Darlene, Chad is survived by his wife, Janna Singleton; daughter, Madison Cyr (Robert Alexander); son, Harry Cyr; step-daughter, Mary Ficker; and his siblings, Cindy Cavignac (Jeff) and Jeffrey Cyr (Melanie).
Chad's wish was to be cremated and a gathering of family and friends will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a celebration of his life commencing at 3:00 p.m.
