Catherine I. (Coyle) Schmidt, 90, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on August 25, 2014. Early in life before raising a family, she worked at Seagram's Distillery and the Charlestown Ammunition Plant. Catherine was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and mama.
She was born on May 30, 1924 in Sellersburg, Indiana to the late Albert and Mabel (Stewart) Coyle. She was also recently preceded in death by her husband of nearly 67 years, Thomas W. Schmidt; brother, Lewis Coyle; and great-grandson, Myles.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Denise Hagan (Mike), Mary Cissell (Randy); sister, Elizabeth Bean; grandchildren, Leah Kelly (Brendan), David Cissell, David Hagan (Stephanie), Amy Buckingham (Tim); and great-grandchildren, Adriana, Joleigh, and Hagan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, KY 40205) or to the Kosair Children's Hospital (PO Box 950183, Louisville, KY 40295).
